Is Marxism really eurocentric?

Café Engels Herrfurthstraße 21, Berlin

The global spread of capitalism and its crises has resulted in numerous imperialist wars, ecological exploitation, colonial domination, rising fascism and increasing state authoritarianism.
At the same time, the left seems to be in perpetual crisis, unable to mobilise across different movements and sections of society.

To us, as internationals in Berlin, it seems urgent to turn to one of the cleavages that emerged when parts of the postcolonial studies movement deemed Marxism Eurocentric and unhelpful to their cause.

We're delighted to have Jonathan and Deborshi - who will give us a quick intro into the origins of this debate so that we're all on the same page - in conversation with our guest Simon Barber. Simon visits from Aotearoa, New Zealand and works on Maori struggles. Bijan will add to this by reflecting on Marxism in the Iranian left.

Please join us for a relaxed get-together with a few inputs and also plenty of time to discuss and strategize.
